Ingredients

  • 2 (12 ounce) cans evaporated milk well chilled
  • Juice of 6 oranges chilled
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Ice
  • Orange slices for garnish

Instructions

  • Make sure the evaporated milk and citrus juices are thoroughly chilled before starting.
  • In a large pitcher, combine the orange juice, lime juice, sugar, and vanilla extract. Stir until the sugar has dissolved.
  • Fill the pitcher with plenty of ice.
  • While stirring continuously, slowly pour in the chilled evaporated milk.
  • Continue stirring until smooth and creamy.
  • Pour into glasses filled with ice and garnish each glass with an orange slice.

Notes

  • The secret to a silky Morir Soñando is using very cold ingredients and slowly pouring in the evaporated milk while stirring. This helps create the smooth texture without curdling.
  • Freshly squeezed orange juice gives the best flavor. Bottled orange juice won't taste quite as bright or fresh.
  • Taste the drink before serving and adjust the sugar if needed. Sweeter oranges may require less sugar, while tart oranges may need a little more.
  • Morir Soñando is best enjoyed immediately after mixing while it's cold and smooth.
