Beef and Broccoli Lo Mein combines two classic Chinese-American dishes and makes a delicious easy, takeout-inspired dish that everyone loves! The entire meal is ready in under 30 minutes.

Lo mein is a classic Chinese dish that has been enjoyed by many for centuries. You can usually find it at your favorite Chinese restaurants. When you combine it with beef and broccoli, it’s the perfect quick and easy meal.
Tender beef, savory noodles, crunchy broccoli, and a delicious sauce combine to create a complete meal for busy weeknights.
In this recipe, I use spaghetti noodles instead of traditional lo mein noodles to make it even easier. You don’t have to overcomplicate things, as this meal uses easy to find ingredients. You can even adapt to use whatever veggies you have in your kitchen.

Ingredients You Need
NOTE: The full list of ingredients with measurements is provided in the recipe card below.

- Steak or Sliced Beef: I love using flank steak, skirt steak or sirloin steak in this recipe. Slice the beef into thin pieces so that it cooks quickly and evenly.
- Noodles: You don’t have to get fancy here. I love using spaghetti because it’s easy to find and easy to cook. You can use traditional lo mein noodles, rice noodles, udon noodles, fresh egg noodles or any long type of noodle. Even ramen noodles would be great here!
- Broccoli: If you don’t want to use broccoli, you can substitute with another vegetable like green beans, cauliflower, snap peas, carrots, bell peppers, bok choy or asparagus.
- Onion: I use a yellow onion, but you can use another type of onion, if desired.
- Low Sodium Soy Sauce: I use low sodium soy sauce to reduce the salt content. Use a dark soy sauce to ensure the best color of noodles.
- Oyster Sauce: This helps deepen the color and flavor of the savory sauce.
- Honey: The honey provides a natural sweetness to the sauce. It pairs well with the other ingredients. You can reduce the amount of honey, if desired. You can also substitute with brown sugar.
- Sesame Oil: The best oil for cooking lo mein. You can substitute with another high-heat oil like peanut oil, avocado oil or canola oil, but it may change the flavor slightly.
- Rice Vinegar: Adds more flavor to the sauce.
- Fresh Ginger and Garlic: A must for a stir fry dish.
- Cornstarch: This helps to thicken the sauce.
- Ground Ginger: In addition to the fresh ginger, I use ground ginger to season the beef. You can substitute with more fresh ginger, if desired.
- Browning Sauce (optional): While the browning sauce is always optional, I find that it enhances the color and presentation of the dish. Try my homemade browning sauce.

Steps to Make Beef and Broccoli Noodles
This recipe comes together in just a few quick and easy steps.
- Cook the noodles: Boil a pot of water and cook the noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.

- Cook the beef: Heat a wok over high heat. Add the sesame oil and sear the beef until cooked to your preference. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
TIP: If you don’t have a wok, you can use a large pan or skillet.
- Cook the veggies and noodles: Add the onions, garlic, and ginger to the wok. Saute for 2 to 3 minutes, until fragrant. Add the broccoli florets and cooked noodles to the wok. Stir fry until the broccoli is tender. Gradually add the sauce to the wok while constantly mixing.

Recipe Tips
- Prep Ahead: Prepare all your ingredients before starting to cook. This dish comes together quickly, so having all of the ingredients ready will make the process smoother.
- Marinate the Beef: Marinate the beef for at least 30 minutes to infuse it with flavor and tenderize the meat.
- Cook Noodles until al Dente: Cook the noodles just until al dente as they will continue to cook when stir-fried with the other ingredients.
- Use High Heat: Stir-fry the ingredients on high heat to achieve that classic wok flavor and to prevent the noodles from becoming soggy.
