Let’s be honest: Popeyes has the best fried chicken recipe. Popeyes chicken is perfect because the meat is juicy and flavorful, and the skin is crispy! This recipe replicates that famous Popeyes taste but at home! Now, you can enjoy that same mouthwatering flavor at in the comfort of your own kitchen with this easy-to-follow recipe.
My Top Tips for making the BEST fried Chicken
USE A THERMOMETER- I highly recommend using a thermometer for this recipe. Ensuring your chicken is precisely at 350 degrees is the key to perfectly crispy chicken.
LET YOUR CHICKEN REST. Allowing it to sit for 10-15 minutes before frying allows the batter to cling to the chicken. I like to place my chicken on a parchment-lined baking sheet and allow my oil to heat while it rests. This is my #1 TIP for perfectly fried chicken!
DEEP FRY YOUR CHICKEN- I recommend using a large Dutch oven, deep fryer, or BIG pot so that your chicken is completely submerged in oil! The chicken will not be the same if you shallow fry it.

I followed this and your french fry recipe and it was just like Popeyes.
You gotta do the biscuits next! lol
This is better than Popeyes, they are never going to see me again lol
I use this recipe anytime I fry chicken. It comes out delicious every time
The first time I made Fried Chicken, I didn’t get that crunch I was looking for. When I used this recipe, they came out perfect 😍 The skin was crispy, but they weren’t dry, just super juicy. I’m going to be using it from now on.
This was delicious. I tried this recipe twice. One lazily- the other, really taking my time. When we bought a thermometer and made sure the oil was hot- we noticed a huge difference. We also made sure to let the chicken rest after bartering it, before we fried it. Overall, a 10/10. We will definitely make this again! It was incredible!
I tried the recipe, and it turned out good overall, but it didn’t quite match up to the crispiness of Popeyes Fried Chicken. The chicken came out crispy, but just not quite crispy enough for my liking. Still, it’s a solid recipe with potential, and I’d recommend giving it a try!
Thank you so much for the feedback! I am happy you enjoyed this recipe 🙂
Quick question. Do you season both the chicken and the flour with salt, pepper and paprika? The measurements were the same so was confused wether the they were just for seasoning the chicken or supposed to be in both the chicken and the flour mixture.
Hi Kenny, thanks for your question, you season both!
We made this recipe twice. Here a few tips: USE A THERMOMETER to make sure your oil is hot! This was game-changing for us! We loved it so much! Next, we will try the Popeyes fries!
So happy you loved this recipe! Yes, absolutely, thermometers are the best! Keep cooking Jaylen <3
Your recipe for Popeyes like fried chicken lists Sazon in the necessary ingredients…However there are multiple variations of Sazon. Could you specify which one? I would like the best results. Thank you
